A job in law enforcement is full of dangers. There are serious health concerns for officers, detectives and medical examiners when investigating the scene of a crime with hazardous and bio-waste being of main concern. Many members of law enforcement have strict guidelines for how they can handle and breakdown a crime scene which may involve wearing safety clothes or full-body hazardous material suits if necessary. The risk of disease and infection involves with crime scene investigation and cleanup makes law enforcement one of the most health hazardous jobs available today.

Outside of crime scene safety issues are the obvious concerns over violence. Law enforcement personnel are constantly faced with the risk of being seriously injured on the job by criminals. This means there is a widespread use of things like the bulletproof vest to keep police officers safe while at work. A bulletproof vest, while not offering 100% protection against bullets, greatly increases your chances of surviving an attack. This is possible because a bulletproof vest is made up of a series of pliable layers of fabric and kevlar to help minimize the impact of the bullet on the body.
